Dr. Karena Wu

Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
Dr. Karena Wu is Owner and Clinical Director of ActiveCare Physical Therapy® in NYC and Mumbai. She is a native of Los Angeles, California and has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Riverside. She has been practicing physical therapy for 18 years in New York City. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the Program In Physical Therapy at Columbia University and received her Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University. She has advanced training in manual therapies, specifically in the Maitland Australian Approach and Myofascial Release. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Karena is also a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Kinesiology Tape Practitioner and Pilates Instructor. She holds LSVT BIG, FMS and SFMA Level 1 certifications as well.
Karena is a dedicated practitioner who takes a holistic approach to her practice. She trains all of the therapists working in the NY and Mumbai locations. She actively networks with a team of physicians, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, personal trainers and Pilates instructors. Her patient population consists of high net worth professionals, international royalty, professional athletes, dancers, celebrity chefs, Broadway/TV/movie stars, and NYPD/FDNY. She has a limited practice in NY, Mumbai and with private clients.
Karena is used as a healthcare expert on CBS, NBC, NY1, PIX11, Verizon Fios, Fox News and Dr. Oz. She is the Medical Director for the Association of Volleyball Professionals. Karena was the Director of Education for SpiderTech Kinesiology Tape and continues to work with all kinesiology tape companies.
Eunjung Choi was originally born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical therapy from Eulji University in South Korea and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Dominican College in 2014. Eunjung trained in South Korea where she gained experience working with patients with scoliosis and various muscular disorders. She continued her studies in manual therapy to learn trigger point myofascial release with the Korean Strong Hand Tool.
Eunjung always works to understand her patient's emotional and physical connection. She values staying current with the latest developments and skills of the medical field. She is interested in women's health and is currently training for her advanced certificate in pelvic floor rehabilitation through the American Physical Therapy Association's Section Women’s Health (SoWH).
Eunjung is able to create an instant rapport with her clients with a bright vibe. She is passionate, honest, optimistic, organized and exercises the life work balance in this busy city. In her free time, she enjoys meditation, hiking, exploring NYC and indoor rock climbing. She is fluent in Korean.
Dr. Kelly Picciurro
PT, DPT, CKTP
Dr. Kelly Picciurro was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. In 2013, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland. After completing her undergraduate studies, she worked at ActiveCare Physical Therapy® for one year as a Therapy Aide, where her passion for the profession grew.
In 2017, Kelly earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree, graduating with honors in both clinical excellence and community service from Rutgers University. While studying physical therapy, she gained experience with disabled children and athletes who had various orthopedic conditions in both outpatient and hospital settings.
Kelly understands that medical education is an ongoing process and, as such, continues to supplement her university education with courses in manual therapy from Maitland Australian Approach, Graston technique and myofascial decompression. She has taken several advanced courses in these fields and is eager to continue to enhance her expertise. Kelly is passionate about the physical therapy field. She prides herself on her approach to holistic and personalized treatment for every individual patient.
In Kelly's free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking and exercising. Her goals are to pursue a specialist certification in orthopedics and to become a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist via Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars.
PT, BPT, MS
Himani Chokshi originates from Gujarat, India. She graduated with a Bachelors in Physiotherapy in 2015 from Sardar Patel University in Anand, Gujarat. She has interned at multiple facilities in various fields in different cities in Gujarat. These fields include Orthopedic, Neurology and Cardiac Rehab sites. Himani graduated with a Masters in Exercise Science in 2017 from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated with Academic Excellence in her Major. During her schooling, she also achieved a National Certificate of Inclusive Fitness Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine and interned in a Geriatric Orthopedic outpatient facility in Queens.
She believes that continuing education is inevitable in the field of health science to provide top-notch patient care. She will continue her education by taking manual therapy courses from the Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS), Kinesiotaping and the Graston Technique. Himani is very passionate about refining and growing her knowledge. She is truly determined to provide the highest care and treatment to her patients at ActiveCare Physical Therapy. She is incorporating techniques and skills learnt from the past and her present continuing education. In her free time, Himani does community work by volunteering at BAPS, a Swaminarayan Temple in Queens. She also likes to sing, dance and spend time with her friends and family.
Lea T Noonan
Dr. Lea Noonan is a Massachusetts native and was raised on the south coast of Massachusetts, just off Cape Cod. She completed her undergraduate studies at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then spent 2 years working in Providence area hospitals in the Emergency Department.
Lea attended the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts to pursue a career in physical therapy. She graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in January 2018. Lea gained experience in outpatient orthopedic, pediatric school-based, and inpatient rehabilitation during her academic years. She is a believer in holistic, patient-centered care and has spent time volunteering with a number of organizations, including therapeutic horseback riding and adaptive alpine skiing.
Lea recognizes that physical therapy and healthcare is a dynamic and ever-changing field and is eager to stay up to date with the most recent literature. She is looking to supplement her graduate level studies and current practice with continuing education opportunities. She plans to attend courses in Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars, Kinesiology Tape, Myofascial Decompression and The Graston Technique. She is focused and driven to provide the most comprehensive and individualized attention to each patient with whom she interacts.
Lea enjoys traveling, reading, and participating in recreational league sports. She also loves spending time with family and friends and many other leisure activities. As a new transplant to NYC, she is looking forward to exploring the city and all it has to offer.
